Barcelona's Gordon reportedly says England never rated him, and that Spain values how he thinks
The forward, now at FC Barcelona, is reported to have said his real level went unrecognised in England, though no fee, no date and no former club are attached to the story.

Gordon is reported to have said that his true level was never recognised in England, and that in Spain his football intelligence is appreciated. That is the whole of it: a player arriving in a new league with a theory about why the old one did not work out.
It is a familiar shape of statement, and it is also a bet. A player who says he is valued for his intelligence rather than his output has set the terms by which he will be judged, and LALIGA EA SPORTS tends to settle those arguments quickly. At Barcelona it settles them faster still, in front of a crowd that forms opinions early and holds them firmly.
What has not emerged is almost everything else. The reports do not name the English club he has left. There is no transfer fee, no date for the signing, and no detail at all on the contract he has signed. The story, as it stands, is a player, a destination, and a grievance.
Barcelona, for their part, have been doing the kind of thing that makes a new attacker's case harder rather than easier. The last five have gone: W 5-0 Valencia CF, W 5-1 Feyenoord, W 4-2 Levante UD, W 7-2 R. Racing Club, W 3-1 Sevilla FC. Twenty-four goals, five wins, and a forward line already functioning without him.
